Poem 1

With a仄-rising tone and the first line rhyming

Tuned to the 11th You rhyme in the Pingshui Rhyme Book

Chasing waves and piercing currents, roaming free and unconfined;

Gently swaying its colorful fins, it frolics by the sandbank.

Bearing flowers, it drifts drunk toward the warm spring stream;

Nibbling algae, it happily dwells in the quiet green ravine.

Hiding in the shallow shallows, it shimmers bright like jade;

Swishing its tail in the deep pool, it glides soft as silk.

Uncovetous of the earthly trivial fame that stirs distraction;

It clings alone to its pure heart, facing the clear rippling flow.

Poem 2

With a平-rising tone and the first line rhyming

Tuned to the 7th Yang rhyme in the Pingshui Rhyme Book

Silver scales glint in the sun, casting a cold shimmering light;

Emerging and vanishing in misty waves, it roams as it likes, short or long.

Escaping fishhooks, it hides its trace, lingering by the shallow rapids;

Seeking fragrant blooms and chasing catkins, it drifts across the horizontal pond.

Wind stirs the thin ripples, dancing in rhythm with its form;

Rain beats the round lotus leaves, lifting its charm in the air.

All year round, it floats and sinks, untouched by mortal dust;

With clear streams as its companions, it wanders and revels in ease.

Connotation Interpretation (English Version)

The two poems depict fish with vivid and delicate strokes, endowing them with noble spiritual traits.

In the first poem, the fish roams freely in waves, plays by sandbanks, and lingers in clear streams. It is as bright as jade and soft as silk, and it spurns earthly fame to cling to a pure heart. The poem eulogizes the pursuit of a simple, unsullied life, symbolizing the poet’s aspiration for a tranquil and upright state of mind, free from the distractions of vanity.

The second poem portrays the fish’s resilience and purity: it evades danger in shallow rapids, chases beauty across ponds, and remains untouched by dust despite floating and sinking through the year. The image of the fish lingering with clear streams reflects the poet’s love for a natural, untainted life, and his adherence to lofty ideals and moral integrity.

Both poems blend scenes with emotions, using fish as a metaphor for human character, expressing the author’s disdain for worldly trivialities and his pursuit of a noble, pure spiritual realm.

唐增虎，笔名虎乐为善，1958年生于山东泰安，汉族，大学本科学历，国网山东电力淄博供电公司退休工程师、技师、用电专家，原电工培训中心校长。自幼钟情文学，深耕散文与诗歌创作多年，笔耕不辍，累计在各级报刊发表作品近三百篇。其创作兼具生活温度与思想深度，广受文坛瞩目。社会任职丰富，身兼淄博散文学会监事长、淄博哲学学会理事、山东省收藏家学会会员、河北省文学艺术研究会会员、河北省诗词协会会员、《青年文学家》杂志社理事及半月刊特约作家等职；同时受聘为官方艺术国礼鉴定顾问、世界诗歌联盟创作集团副总裁。凭借深厚的创作功底与斐然的文学成就，荣膺“新时代人民艺术家”“中国当代艺术名家”等称号，斩获《新绪杯》文学创作金奖，并获评签约诗人、特约作家、《青年文学家》杂志社优秀作家、《汗滴化雨伴笔耕》特约撰稿人等多项荣誉，文学与艺术领域享有盛誉。

Author Profile

Tang Zenghu, whose pen name is Hule Weishan, was born in 1958 in Tai’an, Shandong Province. He is of Han ethnicity and holds a bachelor’s degree. A retired professional from State Grid Shandong Electric Power Zibo Power Supply Company, he has served as an engineer, a technician, an expert in power consumption, and the former principal of the Electrician Training Center.

Having been passionate about literature since his early years, he has dedicated himself to prose and poetry writing for decades. With unremitting diligence, he has published nearly 300 works in newspapers and periodicals at all levels. His creations, characterized by both the warmth of daily life and the depth of profound thoughts, have garnered wide attention in the literary circle.

He holds a rich array of social positions, including Supervisor-General of Zibo Prose Society, Director of Zibo Philosophy Society, Member of Shandong Collectors Association, Member of Hebei Literature and Art Research Association, Member of Hebei Poetry Association, Director of Youth Literati Magazine, and Special Contributing Writer of its semi-monthly edition. Additionally, he is engaged as an official Appraisal Consultant for National Gift of Art and Vice President of the World Poetry League Creative Group.

Endowed with profound literary attainments and remarkable artistic achievements, he has been honored with titles such as People’s Artist of the New Era and Distinguished Contemporary Chinese Artist. He has won the Gold Award of the Xinxv Cup Literary Creation Competition, and has been recognized as a Contracted Poet, Special Contributing Writer, Excellent Writer of Youth Literati Magazine, and Special Contributing Writer of Sweat Drops into Rain Accompanying Penmanship.
